Attached to your wall they create a fabulous & colourful display whilst a very practical storage solution. There are 7 prongs in total that face towards you when fixed to a wall and slightly angled stopping your spools from dropping off the end.

Though it's still winter we decided to bring in our new seasons felt collection early. Wave those cold grey skies goodbye and bring in the colour. To be honest, after creating all these gorgeous rolls we just couldn't hide them away and so here they are.

So incredibly yummy, tied with pretty Ribbons and tags they really are quite irresistible.

Perfect for experimenting with, sew up some brooches, create sweet little hanging decorations. You could even use the ribbon tied to around the roll to add as a trim on your felt.

The question is....which colour combo do you choose?

Ooooo Look at our Wooden Spools......How Lovely!

Really really pleased with our feature in the December issue of Homes & Gardens, they have come up with a fantastic idea with our vintage style spools and a selection of beautiful ribbons - though I have to admit not all the ribbons are ours. It's a classic style wreath with a modern twist - it looks very chic and elegant!

Nine spools, a collection of pretty ribbons including a nice wide piece for the bow and some thickish wire (thick enough to carry the weight of the spools) bent into a circle to thread the spools onto - so simple and lovely!

Very inspiring as you can change the ribbons to match each season. I think red and white would look amazing with spots, stripes, stitched and plain in velvet,satin and grosgrain ...... Ok, I don't really need to convince myself anymore... I'm definately going to have to give this one a try folks! We currently sell our spools in sets of 3 or 5 which is perfect for making your wreath. We also sell ribbon on its own or on the spool ready to use.

Nordic Winter....

Gertie & Mabel have been busy putting a collection of colours together for our nordic winter theme wool felt bundle. Icy blues, rich reds and cloudy greys tied together with pretty festive white starry ribbon. If you want to make some nice little gifts for Christmas or give someone a kit that they can experiment with themselves then these are a great buy. They contain 10 shades and 20 pieces of wool felt - a perfect sample for making decorations, brooches, pin cushions.......

Well folks, I managed to grab some time to take a few pictures as promised. After having had a play with them I have put a selection together for you along with some of the other ones that we currently stock. I have to say that red and white is one of my favourite ribbon colour combos as it reminds me of a Scandinavian Christmas.

I know it's ridiculously early to start bringing out the traditional Christmas reds and greens (I hear you all say) but I know a lot of crafters that are already preparing their gift stocks in time for the festive season. Our ribbons have been so popular which is why we are expanding our range to include more stripes, stitched, spots, plain and patterned.

We literally couldn't cope with the amount of orders we had last Christmas and so this year we are getting ready early. If there is a specific colour or design of ribbon you have in mind or you want large quantities please do get in touch with us.

It's a perfect time to start gathering your ribbon stash!

I'm sooo excited and can't wait to show you our lovely brand new ribbons. They arrived today and though it took me literally seconds to get them out the box I just need to find an extra day in the week so that I can get some photos taken.....so please bear with (oops that's a bit Miranda-ish lol).

Everyone seems to be going crazy for our wool felt bundles at the moment and so I've been having fun making up some new colourways for this coming Autumn. If you're making bits and bobs for a craft market or want to make gifts these bundles of loveliness are just perfect!

Oh my, it has been a little while since I last posted on here! We have just had a few relaxing days off (well needed!) and whilst going through the morning post received our brand new August issue of Vogue. They have featured our pretty Danish 'Happy Glow' tealight holders in their 'Vintage Collection'.

a Bundle of Felt...

We are just starting to introduce our beautiful felt fabrics - the colours are so yummy and irresistible that I have already hidden a my own naughty little stash. Not quite sure exactly what I am going to make yet but I do have some owl shapes cut ready for sewing.... when I get an extra hour or so...... but in the meantime my patient little birdies are a work in progress.

Our felts come in pretty rainbow assorted bundles. They contain 30% Wool and 70% Rayon/Viscose - the quality of this felt makes it a joy to work with.

New Press Update!

After, just having recently typed up a post on our fabulous new 'Soda Boxes', mum and I were sitting having a cuppa looking through the latest June issue of Country Homes & Interiors when we had a rather lovely suprise. Our funky 'Soda Boxes' have been featured on pg.17, very happy bunnies indeed!

There is an unfortunate error on the listing price (these things happen!) but still it's always very exciting to be see our products on display.

Well, that was a short and sweet update for today, but then it is supposed to be a lazy weekend. Talking of sweet........I've just been handed a cheeky chunk of chocolate cake and a nice mug of tea (needs must) and so I'll leave you here and wish you all a great bank holiday.

Funky Soda Storage Boxes

These bright and funky wooden soda boxes are a cool accessory this summer! They are very sturdy and come with removable compartments so can be used as an ordinary tray. Very rustic with a retro feel.

Five vibrant colours each printed with a different design. Fantastic storage boxes, I keep some crafty bits and bobs in mine.

We Love Buttons!

There is something rather lovely and beautiful about buttons don't you think!?! It's a bit like Christmas when they arrive. Every bag has to be opened and then I can sit there happily looking at them for a little while with a big smile on my face - yes, I am easily pleased.

Great for jewellery making, embellishments for cards, scrapbooking, sewing onto fabrics.

One of my favourites are these giant polka dot spotty buttons - I think they are fab! There 4 colours available, GREEN, RED, TEAL & HOT PINK. We also have little polka dot ones too, if you don't fancy big and bold.

We also have button jar mixes available which make lovely gifts for crafty people. If there are specific colours you would like to be put together in your jar please do get in touch and we'll be more than happy to make one up for you.

Pretty Birdy

Its always so lovely when you receive a gift that has been beautifully wrapped and looks amazing. I came across these cute birdy tags, they're really sweet and look fab on a pressie...you could pop one into a blank card too. As gift tags they make a lovely decoration as an alternative to a bow. I used a strip of fabric, two types of ribbon and then popped one of these birdies on top.

How sad am I when I have to start wrapping up presents to myself....hmmm!

Well, it's fun to play with pretties.

The great thing is that you can now find these available on our website! They come as a pack of Six, presented in a cello sleeve. We only have a limited amount in stock and these birdies need good homes.....

Hello and welcome to our first ever blog. It's here where I'll be updating you with all the goings on at Gertie & Mabel HQ.

It's been a beautiful sunny day, perfect for getting out in the garden or taking a trip to the coast (if you're lucky enough to live near to one!!) and so my joy of the day has been sat at my laptop setting up this blog and attempting my first post......hmmm...yes it's true, I have no life!

I wanted to show you a few new fabrics that have just arrived from Sweden, arrr lovely and scrummy ( a bit like the half eaten doughnut I currently have next to me).
